It’s that time of year again. That’s right the holidays are upon us! Halloween is in a week, Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Christmas and Hanukkah are not far behind! It is an exciting time of year and who better to spend it with than family and friends. So we at Jacques are going to talk with you about some of our favorite holiday traditions.
Ghoul Ball
Okay, so maybe your Halloween bash isn’t quite a Ghoul Ball, but it’s still a party! Every year people throw all different types of Halloween parties, from the casual eating candy in pajamas and watching Halloween classics, like Hocus Pocus and Practical Magic, to elaborate costume parties. Either way, you’re going to need food. Take out and potlucks are a popular option for the more casual affairs, whereas catering is a trend at costume parties. It just depends on how formal, and how large, you want your Halloween bash to be.
Friendsgiving
Made popular by the hit TV sitcom Friends, Friendsgiving is Thanksgiving, but with your friends. Sometimes it isn’t possible to be at home with your family, and in that case, people throw Friendsgivings. All of your friends can gather in one place and eat up! There are lots of ways to make this holiday great. Some people go all out with formal invitations and table settings, others potluck, and some people chip in for catering. It all depends on your preferences and kitchen skills. Whatever you decide, being with your friends on Thanksgiving is just as important as being with family.
Corporate Thanksgiving
This is another great tradition for many companies. A traditional Thanksgiving feast for employees and staff is a great way to show appreciation and celebrate the hard work accomplished all year long. It can also serve as an amazing kick-off to the holiday season
Holiday Cookies
Families have a whole bunch of holiday traditions, from holiday football games to large holiday parties, however, there is one holiday tradition that exists in almost every family. The baking of holiday cookies! Every family has their favorite cookies to bake, and among those, there is always one that reigns supreme. For us, it is the chocolate chip cookie. They have to be made just right and baked to the perfect softness. We use a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe on the back of most bags of chips, but with a slight twist, extra vanilla. Instead of one teaspoon, we use one tablespoon and cut back on the salt. It makes for a super sweet cookie and gives it something a little extra.
