About Jacques Exclusive Catering

Our Origin Story

Jacques began in a Brooklyn kitchen in the 1950s — Jack D'Angelo's. Our mother, Kathleen, worked for him there in 1955. On 1 December 1981 the two of them opened this one together in New Jersey, as partners.

So when someone asks whether we're the same Jacques from Brooklyn: yes. Same name, same family.

As adults, even now, it all makes sense — we can still vividly recall the smells and tastes of the freshest home cooking from our childhood home. Our mother would bring us to the Brooklyn office, which shaped the outlook and philosophy about food and catering we still hold today.

As time moved on from the traditions of the 1950s, the sophistication of brides and grooms and their guests increased. Gone were the days of cold deli trays, and in came a desire for unique, sophisticated dishes reflecting many different tastes, cuisines, and cultures.

That first New Jersey location was a small store in a Middletown shopping center. We're still Jacques Exclusive Catering of Middletown, Inc., which is where the name comes from. In 1986 we moved to our current building in Hazlet.

​

The three of us took over in the 1990s. As demand grew for new catering options — hot entrees served fresh at many different locations — we were ready to answer it with high-quality off-premise catering.

In 2000 we opened our own reception center in Middletown — the town where the company began. We offer a full suite of services for New Jersey brides, grooms and event hosts.

It is our absolute pleasure to share our time, effort, and values with our clients, who believe in quality, service, and overall imaginative experiences just as much as we do. No matter where our story takes us next, we are confident that we will still enjoy sharing those beliefs with others for decades to come.
