Luau Catering in NJ
Go beyond the backyard BBQ — throw a luau.
Have the best summer ever!
There's nothing wrong with a backyard BBQ — we cater plenty of great ones. But when you want the party your guests will be talking about for years, go one step further: throw a Hawaiian Luau. A luau turns a birthday, graduation, wedding celebration, or corporate event into an occasion — tiki torches, island flavors, and a spread nobody expects. Below are our best tips for planning a luau, from picking your location to what goes on the buffet. One note from experience: summer dates book early, so if you're eyeing a warm-weather weekend, don't wait.

Pick Your Location
A Hawaiian Luau can be planned at any venue location you choose. Whether it’s your backyard, the beach, a picnic area or park you can create an authentic Luau atmosphere with decorations and themed accessories. Make sure you check with your venue (if it’s not your home) to make sure there are no special requirements or restrictions for this type of party.
Decide What You’ll Need
A common element for a Luau is a pool or some sort of water feature. Depending on how many guests you plan to invite, you may need tables, chairs, linens, dishes or wait-staff/bartenders. Decide what kind of rental items you will need for your venue and work with your catering company to ensure they can provide all the supplies you need. We recommend using a caterer who can provide everything for a one-stop-shopping convenience.
The Food Is The Hero of the Party
Luau food is full of flavor and can be fun and unique while having wide appeal. From whole spit-fired pigs to Hawaiian inspired dishes including a variety of BBQ meats and vegetables with fruit infused side dishes. You can also choose a few non-Luau dishes for those guests that are looking for something more traditional. Some caterers offer BBQ packages that can include the grill and a professional chef for an authentic, just-off-the-grill experience.
Accessories to Fit the Theme
When planning your Luau add some accessories to carry the theme. We’ve seen everything from real Hula dancers to welcome guests with fresh Leis to table skirts that look like grass Hula skirts. Live bands or Hawaiian music and even performances by real Hula dancers are a great way to get all your guests to participate in the spirit of the Luau. At night, Luaus take on a dramatic ambiance with Tiki torches lit throughout the area and even candles floating in the pool.

These are just a few ways you can take your traditional summer BBQ to the next level.
